Why make science based comic strips?

With my comic strips I hope that I make science more approachable and fun. If nothing else I have a lot of fun making them and discovering all the amazing things that cells can do!

My interest in science based comic strips started during the coronavirus pandemic when my husband bought a Play Station 5. The two things combined gave me substantial more time on my own. The development of the first comic strip was initiated due to a scientific illustration seminar held by Dr. David S. Goodsell called CellSpace. See all the published work from CellSpace here.

Before coronavirus I mainly drew figures for my scientific talks about glia cells and pain, but since then I have developed an interest in turning scientific publications from various fields of biology into comic strips.

If you would like to use my comics, please let me know and I will be happy to send you a jpg version. I am also very happy to collaborate on making new comics if you have a scientific story you would like to communicate.
